The Western Caribbean Fly Fishing School: Learn and enjoy all aspects of the gentle art of fly fishing in the beautiful Caribbean waters. Your tour begins when you are met by your instructor on the beach in the village of Mahahual just a short (5 min) ride from the Costa Maya port. Having been welcomed, an introduction to the equipment and a short demonstration will follow. You will then be taught the technique of casting a single handed fly fishing rod under qualified instruction. After the casting lesson and practice, you then return to the beach to learn how to make a salt water fishing fly.

You can chose from various colourful materials and create your own design for your fly. Then follows the chance to try your luck and try your fly as you go fishing from the beach under guided supervision. Fortunate guests will catch small sport fish such as Bonefish, Jacks and Snappers. During this tour you will learn how to cast a fly fishing rod, how to tie a fishing fly, fly presentation and movement. If you are lucky you will catch a fish on your very own fly! This tour is ideal for beginners, families or fly fishermen who wish to improve their ability under qualified instruction.

Your instructor is knowledgeable about fly fishing for all popular sport fish species worldwide and so whatever your interest level you will finish this tour a better equipped angler.

The Western Caribbean Fly Fishing School is based at Nohoch Kay restaurant in the local fishing village of Mahahual.

Non fishing guests may accompany fishermen and relax on the beach making use of the restaurant facility, bathrooms and kayaks as they wish.
